Grading Toxicity
Heart failure (left ventricular)
Definition: A disorder characterized by the inability of the heart to pump blood at an adequate volume to meet tissue metabolic requirements.
- Asymptomatic with laboratory or cardiac imaging abnormalities
- Symptoms with mild to moderate activity or exertion
- Severe with symptoms at rest or with minimal exertion (intervention needed)
- Life threatening consequences (urgent intervention required)
Management
- Monitor weight, changes in breathing, presence of extremity edema, chest/back/arm/jaw pain and/or pressure
- ECG, ECHO, stress test cardiology referral, 2 mg/kg prednisone; discontinue therapy
- Seek immediate care in ED for chest pain/pressure to evaluate for a cardiac etiology
