Recognize

  • A history of mouth sores
  • Does patient smoke?
  • Concomitant medications associated with causing dry mouth?
  • Reports of dry mouth often accompany mucositis
  • Other reports of dry membranes (e.g., eyes, nasal passages, vagina)
